Cardinals–Seahawks rivalry

A division rivalry born in 2002 that turned bitter in the 2010s fights for the NFC West.

The Cardinals–Seahawks rivalry is a National Football League rivalry between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks. One of the league's newer rivalries, it took shape only after the 2002 realignment placed both teams in the NFC West, and it became one of the more bitter ones in the mid-to-late 2010s, when the two clubs regularly fought for the division. The Seahawks lead the series 31-22-1. The teams have never met in the playoffs.

Background

Seattle entered the league as an expansion team in 1976 and played the Cardinals six times as an interconference opponent before realignment. The Cardinals won both meetings while based in St. Louis and went 3-1 against Seattle after moving to Arizona, taking the first five games of the series before the Seahawks won 33-14 at the Kingdome in 1998.
