Skyrates

Skyrates was a browser-based massively multiplayer online game in open beta, developed initially by students from the Entertainment Technology Center at Carnegie Mellon University. Players controlled anthropomorphic characters, purchased aircraft, and traveled between floating Skylands to trade and engage in combat. Inspired partly by the 1990s Disney cartoon TaleSpin, the game was set in a world recovering from an apocalyptic war that left only scattered islands aloft via unobtainium. The last version, 2.7, was released in February 2012.
