Background
On a trip to an alternate dimension, Rick's car battery malfunctions. Rick takes Morty inside it, leaving Summer in the car with the instruction "Keep Summer safe", and Morty discovers that the battery is a microverse: an entire universe whose citizens unknowingly generate electricity for Rick's car through "gooble box" technology, which Morty calls "slavery with extra steps".
A microverse scientist, Zeep Xanflorp (voiced by Stephen Colbert), has built his own miniverse, which has made the gooble boxes obsolete and stopped the flow of power to the car. Rick, Morty and Zeep enter the miniverse and find that Kyle, a scientist living in Zeep's battery, is working on a teenyverse of his own.
