Micah Bell

A snake in the grass who turned his own family over to the law for a price.

Micah Bell is a treacherous outlaw and a member of the Van der Linde gang in Red Dead Redemption 2. He is a foil to the gang's ideals, representing greed and cruelty. While outwardly appearing loyal for much of the story, Micah is secretly working with the Pinkerton Detective Agency to dismantle the gang from within, driven by his own selfish desires rather than any code of honor.

Lore & Background

Micah Bell, played by Peter Blomquist, is a gunman and hitman in the Van der Linde gang. His father and grandfather, also named Micah Bell, were criminals. He joined the gang about five months before the game after saving Dutch's life during a botched deal, and he talked Dutch into the ferry robbery in Blackwater whose failure forced the gang to flee into the mountains. After the Saint Denis bank robbery and the shipwreck on Guarma he gains more influence over Dutch, pushing him to confront Cornwall and to blow up Bacchus Bridge.

Reader's Guide

Micah persuades Dutch to ignore Arthur's plea to rescue the kidnapped Abigail. Arthur rescues her anyway and tells Dutch that Micah has been informing for the Pinkertons, but Dutch sides with Micah. When the Pinkertons raid the camp the gang breaks up, Micah ambushes Arthur, and Dutch intervenes; Arthur convinces Dutch to abandon Micah. If the player has low honour, Micah executes Arthur. In 1907 John Marston, Sadie Adler and Charles Smith attack Micah's new gang; in a standoff Dutch shoots Micah and John finishes him off. Blomquist called the character a "slimy opportunist".
