Kepler Laveran de Lima Ferreira, commonly called Pepe, was born on 26 February 1983 and played as a centre-back before retiring. He is widely considered one of the top defenders of his era. Hailing from Brazil, he began his European career at Marítimo in Portugal, then joined Porto in 2004. After three seasons, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he became a key figure and collected fifteen major trophies, including three Champions League titles. On the international stage, Pepe chose to represent Portugal, appearing in four World Cups and five European Championships. He helped Portugal win Euro 2016 in France, earning the man-of-the-match award in the final.
