Hoenn

Hoenn is the region of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, some distance from Kanto and Johto. Its design is based on the Japanese island of Kyushu, rotated 90 degrees because Junichi Masuda felt that gave better gameplay balance. Like Kyushu it has many smaller islands, and much of it is sea routes, some with areas where the player can dive underwater. In the games' main subplot Team Magma and Team Aqua try to use Legendary Pokémon to change Hoenn's climate.
