Hisui

A wild dawn where humanity first learned to survive alongside gods.

Hisui is the ancient precursor to modern-day Sinnoh, existing in an era before the Pokémon League or organized trainer battles. Set centuries ago during the rise of the Galaxy Team, this untamed land is defined by its primal wilderness where humans and Pokémon coexist through a precarious balance of fear, respect, and survival rather than structured competition.

Lore & Background

In this distant past, the land that would become Sinnoh was a harsh wilderness teeming with aggressive Pokémon. The Galaxy Team established itself here to study the creatures and maintain order, supported by local clan leaders such as Adaman of the Diamond Clan and Irida of the Pearl Clan. Unlike modern times, Pokémon were viewed not as partners for sport but as powerful forces of nature capable of destroying a village if provoked. The region is deeply intertwined with the mythology of the Creation Trio: Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina. Ancient people revered these entities as deities controlling time, space, and the Distortion World respectively. Tensions frequently erupted when these beings clashed or were disturbed by human activity, leading to catastrophic events that reshaped the geography. The Survey Corps, a specialized branch of the Galaxy Team, documented these creatures and developed methods to mitigate conflict, eventually inventing the Poké Ball as a tool for safe capture rather than domination. A central focus of this era is the relationship with 'Noble' Pokémon. These legendary or powerful beasts were often afflicted by a rage-induced malady caused by space-time distortions. A human mediator was required to subdue them through ritualistic offerings and battles that tested endurance, restoring balance without lethal force.

In Their Own Story

The narrative places the player character in the role of an outsider transported from the distant future into this volatile era. Stripped of modern conveniences like Poké Balls or Gyms, the protagonist must navigate a world where survival depends on understanding Pokémon behavior rather than overpowering them. The core conflict revolves around calming the rage-afflicted Noble Pokémon that threaten the region's stability, bridging the gap between humanity and nature through cooperation instead of conquest.

Reader's Guide

Hisui serves as the primary setting for Pokémon Legends: Arceus, accessible via temporal distortion linked to the deity Arceus. Players navigate five distinct regions, each with unique terrain hazards and Pokémon behaviors reflecting this evolutionary stage of the Sinnoh region.
