Reception
Jonathan Palmer reviewed Abyssal Warriors for Arcane magazine, giving it a 7 out of 10. He noted that King, known for Ravenloft works, demonstrated an ability to write weirdly enough for Planescape. Palmer observed that both Abyssal Warriors and Blood Hostages evoke the horror of Planescape without bogging the reader down in impossible descriptions, offering a mystical rather than rational level of explanation. He remarked that the novel is tosh as a story but serves as a sourcebook full of horrid, off-the-wall material for an imaginative referee.
