Katie Charlotte Boulter (born 1 August 1996) is a British professional tennis player who reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 23 in November 2024. She has won four singles titles on the WTA Tour and was the British women’s No. 1.

Early life

Boulter was born in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire, and started playing tennis at age five. She represented Great Britain from age eight. She has said that beating her older brother at a local court was a motivating factor. Before tennis took precedence, she played the piano, and she also has an interest in fashion, appearing in Vogue in 2018.

Career

In 2008, aged 11, Boulter won the Lemon Bowl in Rome. She became a finalist in the Junior Orange Bowl Tennis Championships in 2011 and received the Aegon Junior Player Award that month. Her first senior doubles title came at a $10k event in Sharm El Sheikh in November 2013. In January 2014 she was a finalist at the Australian Open girls' doubles event with Ivana Jorović. She received a wildcard for Wimbledon qualifying in June but lost in the first round. She reached her first WTA Tour quarterfinal at the Nottingham Open after a wildcard entry, defeating former US Open champion Samantha Stosur. In July she reached the final of the $100k grass-court event in Southsea, losing to Kirsten Flipkens. She then received a wildcard into the Wimbledon main draw, winning her first-round match over Verónica Cepede Royg before losing to Naomi Osaka. In 2019 she defeated Ekaterina Makarova at the Australian Open in a third-set tiebreak, then lost to Aryna Sabalenka. She retired with an injury during a match against Sofia Kenin at the Mexican Open. In April 2019 she suffered a spinal stress fracture while playing for Great Britain in the Fed Cup. At the 2021 Australian Open she lost in the first round to Daria Kasatkina.

Personal life

Katie Boulter was diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome as a teenager and is a Leicester City FC fan. She became engaged to Australian tennis player Alex de Minaur in December 2024, and they married in July 2026 near Woodhouse Eaves. In June 2025, Boulter revealed she had faced persistent, extreme online abuse, much of it from disgruntled gamblers.
