Brenton Brown's journey in worship music began with Vineyard Music in the UK, where he served as a worship pastor at the Oxford Vineyard and later took on the role of coordinator for the Vineyard's UK Worship Development Team. During his time there, his songs "Lord Reign in Me," "All Who Are Thirsty," "Humble King," "Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing)," and "Holy" appeared on various Vineyard UK projects. His career gained momentum with the release of the Vineyard UK worship albums Come Now Is the Time, Hungry, Surrender, and Holy.

Moving into the 2000s, Brown worked as a Kingsway artist, co-writing and recording tracks like "Hosanna (Praise Is Rising)," "Everlasting God," "Because of Your Love," and "God My Rock." More recently, his song "Soul on Fire" was recorded by the band Third Day. In 2006, he put out his first solo album, Everlasting God, which came out on Survivor Records in the UK and worldwide, and on Sparrow Records in the United States and Canada. The title track, co-written with Ken Riley of the UK Christian band YFriday, has been covered by artists such as Lincoln Brewster, Jeremy Camp, and notably Chris Tomlin on his 2006 album See the Morning. Brown has also appeared on several live and compilation albums, including projects tied to events like Hope 2008 and Mission:Worship. His second solo album, Because of Your Love, followed in 2008.

In 2009, Brown signed with Kingsway Communications and released the EP Introducing Brenton Brown in October of that year. A full-length album, Adoration, came out in 2010, featuring many songs from his independent release Because of Your Love along with the new track "A Thousand Stars." Later in 2010, he released Our God Is Near, his first Kingsway album composed entirely of fresh material. His first live solo record, God My Rock, arrived in 2012, recorded at a Dare2share event in Dayton, Ohio. It included six new songs alongside earlier works like "Hosanna (Praise Is Rising)" and "Everlasting God," and was released by Integrity Music. The song "Lion and the Lamb," co-written with Leeland Mooring and Brian Johnson, was featured on Bethel Music's 2016 album Have It All.
