Biography

Lola Dewaere is the daughter of actor Patrick Dewaere and Élisabeth "Elsa" Malvina Chalier. She is the half-sister of Angèle Herry-Leclerc, born in 1974 to Dewaere and actress Miou-Miou. After her father's suicide in 1982, his widow entrusted three-year-old Lola to her maternal grandparents in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay, Maine-et-Loire. Following a difficult elementary school period, she returned to live with her mother in Paris and attended a private Catholic school, Saint-Michel-de-Picpus, from which she was expelled for rebelliousness. Around age 16, she discovered several of her father's films, including Adieu Poulet, La Meilleure Façon de marcher, Coup de tête, and Psy. In 1997, she enrolled at Cours Florent to train as an actor. After a serious car accident in 2001, she worked for the magazine Jalouse and later in real estate. She began her acting career in 2007. In March 2010, Myriam Boyer secured her a role in La Vie devant soi, a television adaptation of Romain Gary's novel. That summer, she accepted the lead in Antoine Beauville's drama La Biscotte at Théâtre le Temple in Paris. The following year, Charlotte de Turckheim cast her in the comedy Mince Alors! (Big Is Beautiful, 2012) alongside Victoria Abril. The same year, she played Marie-Lou, the cruise director in the six-episode series La Croisière, broadcast in Switzerland and France in 2013.
