Early life
Choy was born in 1967 in New Territories, Hong Kong, the second-youngest of six siblings. Her parents ran a mahjong sets and tables business; her father died when she was five, and her mother raised the children alone. She earned a diploma in secretarial information management at a university in the United Kingdom, then worked in administration for ten years. She married Ken in 1998 and moved with him to Guangdong and Northeast China to assist with his business. Returning to Hong Kong in 2006, she worked as an administrator at Miele from 2008 for two years.
Career
After being fired three times from office jobs, Choy was diagnosed with ADHD and started a 16-seat restaurant in Yuen Long in 2011. Named ChoyChoy, it served Hong Kong cuisine, initially offering breakfast and light meals. CNN and The South China Morning Post listed it among Hong Kong's top private kitchens. In 2019, Choy moved to Tokyo and opened ChoyChoy in Roppongi; the restaurant later relocated to Aobadai, Meguro, accommodating four guests. Her 2018 cookbook Grace's 60 Recipes won the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards' Best Woman Chef Book in 2019.
