The Revelation of the Moon
9S learns that humanity is already extinct.
While recovering after Adam captures him, 9S discovers a glitch in YoRHa's servers when syncing himself and 2B, and learns that humanity died out long before the alien invasion. All that remains is a server on the Moon holding humanity's genetic remains, and YoRHa keeps the myth of its survival alive to give the androids a reason to exist.
