Supernatural (NewJeans song)

Background

After debuting in 2022, NewJeans achieved international breakthrough in 2023 with singles "Ditto" and "OMG" and the EP Get Up, which topped the Billboard 200. In March 2024, ADOR announced two double singles for the year, including "Supernatural" and its B-side "Right Now." The group began promotional activities in Japan in April 2024, opening pop-up stores in partnership with Kao and Shibuya109, and having "Right Now" featured in advertisements. "Supernatural" was produced by 250 and interpolates a section from the 2009 track "Back of My Mind" by Manami and Pharrell Williams. The CD single was released in three physical formats with artwork by Japanese visual artist Takashi Murakami, who created the music video for "Right Now." A Korean version of "Supernatural" was unveiled on July 5, 2024, with a music video labeled as Part 2 of the original Japanese version. The group began Korean music show promotions that same week. "Supernatural" was NewJeans's last single before their hiatus due to a lawsuit against ADOR; they returned to the label in November 2025. It is also the last single featuring member Danielle, whose exclusive contract with ADOR was terminated a month after the group's return.
