Background
NewJeans debuted in August 2022 with their self-titled EP, which included the successful singles 'Attention', 'Hype Boy', and 'Cookie'. On November 10, 2022, Hybe CEO Jiwon Park announced the group's first single album, OMG, for release on January 2, 2023, with the pre-release single 'Ditto' arriving on December 19, 2022. The song 'OMG' was produced by Park Jin-su and composed with Ylva Dimberg and David Dawood; lyrics were written by Dimberg, Gigi, and NewJeans member Hanni, who drew inspiration from high school teen dramas. The music video, directed by Shin Woo-seok of Dolphiners Films and produced by creative director Min Hee-jin, references Park Chan-wook's 2006 film I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, depicting the members with different mental illusions in a mental hospital, with a cameo from actor Kim Joo-hun.
