Dan Carter is a New Zealand retired rugby union player who played for the Crusaders and the All Blacks. He is the highest point scorer in test match rugby and is considered by many experts as the greatest ever first five-eighth.

Carter scored 1,598 test points (29 tries, 293 conversions, 281 penalties, 8 drop goals) in 112 tests, with an average of 14.27 points per game. He is the only player in international rugby union test history to have scored more than 1,500 test points. He previously held the world record for total conversions (293), but that record has since been surpassed by Owen Farrell (294).
Reader's Guide
Carter's final test match was in 2015. In the 2015 Rugby World Cup final against Australia, he scored four penalties, two conversions, and a drop goal, and was named man of the match. He scored 19 points in that final (four penalties = 12, two conversions = 4, one drop goal = 3).
