New Zealand beat England 23–19 at Twickenham Stadium in London on 19 November 2005, during their Grand Slam tour of Britain and Ireland. England provided the toughest challenge of the tour, and the match was remembered for the three yellow cards referee Alan Lewis showed to the All Blacks, who at one time were down to 13 men.

Background
England captain Martin Corry scored the first try five minutes in, converted by Charlie Hodgson, before Tana Umaga scored under the posts after a break by Dan Carter. Keven Mealamu added New Zealand's second try, and with 14 men for much of the second half New Zealand kept England to that one try. Along with Wales, England were celebrating 100 years of Test rugby against the All Blacks.
