The Magic Rings
Uncle Andrew's yellow and green rings, which carry Digory and Polly between worlds.
In The Magician's Nephew the magic rings are made by Digory Kirke's Uncle Andrew, a dabbler in magic. A yellow ring takes whoever touches it out of their own world, and the green rings bring travellers back. Andrew tricks Polly Plummer into touching a yellow ring, and she vanishes.

Lore & Background
Andrew then blackmails Digory into following Polly with another yellow ring, taking two green rings so that both can return. Digory arrives in a sleepy wood full of pools, where he finds Polly; the children decide it is a "Wood between the Worlds", a place linking many worlds much as the attic links their London houses. Using the rings and the pools they travel to the dead world of Charn, where they wake Jadis, and are present at Aslan's creation of Narnia.
