Lore & Background
He meets Lucy at the lamp post and invites her to his cave for tea, where he plays his flute and tells her about Narnia's past before the endless winter. When Lucy says she must leave he bursts into tears and confesses that he is in the pay of the White Witch, who has made it always winter and never Christmas. Lewis said the first Narnia story grew from a single picture in his head of a faun carrying an umbrella and parcels through a snowy wood, which makes Tumnus the starting point of the series.
