Background

He is second in command of a band of the Tisroc's soldiers under Rishda Tarkaan, who slip into Narnia disguised as merchants. Their plan is to take the north of the country by using a false Aslan controlled by the ape Shift. Emeth looks forward to proving himself in battle but is troubled by the lies used to present Aslan as the Narnian form of the Calormene god Tash.

When Shift and Rishda claim that "Tashlan" is in the stable, Emeth insists on seeing Tash with his own eyes. Inside, he kills the Calormene soldier waiting to dispatch whoever enters and throws his body out of the door.

In Aslan's Country he meets Aslan and expects to be condemned for serving Tash all his life, but Aslan accepts him. Aslan explains that he and Tash are opposites, so any virtuous act done in Tash's name is really received by Aslan. The salvation of Emeth is controversial among some Christians, who understand it as an implicit endorsement of the doctrine of inclusivism.
