Ren Honjo is a character from the manga and film series Nana, portrayed by actor Ryuhei Matsuda in the first live-action film.[1] Within the live-action film Nana, actor Ryuhei Matsuda portrayed the character Ren Honjo.[1]
How it changed
The anime adaptation of Nana aired from April 5, 2006, to March 28, 2007, and adapted the manga's story up to volume 12.[2][3] The anime was intended to avoid filler material and match the manga's plot.[3] Producers stated in April 2007 they would wait for the manga's conclusion before creating more anime content.[3] The regular serialization of the Nana manga in Shueisha's Cookie magazine began on May 26, 2000.[4]
Ai Yazawa's illness led to the Nana manga being placed on an indefinite hiatus after its 84th chapter, which was published in the July 2009 issue of Cookie (released May 26, 2009).[5][6] The first live-action film adaptation of Nana premiered in theaters on September 3, 2005.[1]
What the maker and period sources say
A 2007 Comic Book Bin article describes the live-action Nana films as following two girls both named Nana, with one of them, Nana Osaki, being a punk rock beauty aiming for success in the rock-and-roll world.[7] An Anime News Network article from June 2009 confirms that the Nana manga was put on hold due to Ai Yazawa's sudden illness, requiring several months of treatment and rest.[6] The February 2005 Anime News Network article about Shojo Beat details that Nana began serialization in the magazine's July 2005 debut issue.[8][9]
