The Betrayal of Sal Marcano
The Federal Reserve heist and the double-cross that starts Mafia III's revenge story.
In Mafia III, set in New Bordeaux in 1968, mob boss Sal Marcano brings Lincoln Clay and his adoptive brother Ellis into a job with his son Giorgi: robbing the city's Federal Reserve branch during Mardi Gras. Their friend Danny Burke joins them, and the heist goes off with few problems.

Afterwards the Marcanos turn on the crew. Sammy, Ellis and Danny are killed and Sammy's bar is set on fire; Lincoln is shot and left for dead, but Father James saves him. Once he recovers, Lincoln reaches out to his former CIA handler John Donovan, and his campaign of revenge against Marcano begins.
