Production

Season four of Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood started production in February 2017. The following month, singer Keyshia Cole announced she would appear on the new season, alongside her estranged ex-husband Daniel "Booby" Gibson. In April 2017, VH1 confirmed the show would return on July 17, but later moved the premiere date to July 24, releasing a teaser that confirmed Cole’s role and a press release listing the new cast. Lyrica Anderson and Safaree Samuels were elevated to main cast members, and Hazel-E came back after missing a season.

Lil Fizz and Masika Kalysha were dropped from the opening credits and appeared only as supporting cast; Kalysha said her demotion happened because she would not film with her longtime rival Alexis Skyy. New faces included Brooke Valentine, songwriter Marcus Black, stylist Zellswag, Moniece’s girlfriend A.D. Diggs, Fetty Wap’s ex Alexis Skyy, Chanel West Coast, producer Solo Lucci, and Bridget Kelly. Cisco Rosado and Jade Wifey from Love & Hip Hop: New York made special crossover appearances.

Supporting roles went to College Hills Misster Ray, Alexandra Shipp’s brother James Shipp Jr., and A.D.’s friend Tiffany Campbell. On July 3, VH1 aired Dirty Little Secrets, a special featuring unseen footage and deleted scenes from the first three seasons, plus interviews with cast and producers. On July 13, the network released "meet the cast" promos for new members, and on July 17, a six-minute super-trailer came out. During the reunion special, Safaree announced he was leaving to join Love & Hip Hop: New York.

In October 2017, Hazel was reportedly fired after starting violent feuds with nearly everyone and posting anti-gay and colorist comments on social media. In February 2018, Keyshia Cole and Masika Kalysha were reported to have quit after repeatedly breaking the fourth wall to complain about producers, threatening legal action, and walking off set.
