Production
Filming for season nine began in December 2019. On February 17, 2020, VH1 announced the season would premiere on March 16, 2020, with new cast members Alexis Skyy, Ki'yomi Leslie and LightSkinKeisha. Scrapp Deleon's sister Cheyenne appeared in a minor supporting role, and Love & Hip Hop: New York's Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels made special crossover appearances. Production was affected by the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic; from the fourth episode onward, cast members filmed green screen confessional scenes while quarantined at home. The ninth episode served as the season's finale, including scenes of behind-the-scenes struggles as production was forcibly shut down, and remaining episodes were postponed indefinitely.
