The film begins one year after the events of the first movie, with Amy preparing for her father Pop's Halloween-themed wedding to his fiancé Carl. Meanwhile, a museum worker accidentally revives an evil mummy named Sobek, who was once Harold's best friend before they both loved Rose, and Rose chose Harold. Sobek now seeks revenge. Buzzy and the kids arrive in Rockport and learn from a jewelry store clerk that Sobek may be after Harold and Rose, and that an amulet brought Sobek to life. They sneak the mummies out of the museum using replicas. Sobek hypnotizes a museum worker, steals an Egyptian scepter, and tracks Harold and Rose to a Halloween carnival. After a chase, Sobek kidnaps Rose and attacks Harold. The kids devise a plan to rescue Rose, using a moon prop to crush Sobek's revived mummy army. They deflect the scepter's attack, destroying its jewel and the amulet, defeating Sobek. The wedding proceeds, and the mummies are returned to their sarcophagi.
