Seirin vs. Yōsen
The phantom meets the giant in a battle where willpower defies impossible odds.
The Seirin High versus Yōsen High match is a Winter Cup game in which Seirin, led by Tetsuya Kuroko and Taiga Kagami, faces the towering defense of Atsushi Murasakibara, the former center of the Generation of Miracles. Murasakibara's physical dominance stifles Seirin's offense at first, but Kagami unlocks the Zone and leads Seirin to victory. The game also sets Kagami against Tatsuya Himuro, his childhood friend from the United States and Yōsen's other ace.

Lore & Background
Murasakibara stands 208 cm tall and can single-handedly defend the entire area inside the three-point line. Himuro, Yōsen's shooting guard, was trained alongside Kagami in America by Alexandra Garcia, who travels to Japan to watch the two face off. His signature move is the Mirage Shot. Though defeated, Murasakibara gains a new respect for the game, and Kagami and Himuro accept one another as rivals and brothers.
Reader's Guide
Yōsen opens with an 18–0 lead toward the end of the first quarter, and Murasakibara blocks Kagami's shot and then his dunk from Kiyoshi's lob. Himuro beats Kagami and Hyūga with a fake and a jump shot. When Murasakibara joins the offense he dunks hard enough to bring the hoop down. Kuroko then marks Murasakibara and draws a charging foul from him. In the fourth quarter, with Kiyoshi out, Seirin struggles to score and Yōsen holds its lead; during a timeout Murasakibara says he no longer wants to play although Yōsen is four points ahead, and Himuro talks him back into the game. Kagami, now in the Zone, moves fast enough to challenge both Himuro's Mirage Shot and Murasakibara's dunk, and Seirin wins.
