Seirin vs Tōō

Seirin's heaviest defeat and its first win over Aomine.

Seirin vs Tōō covers the two tournament games between Seirin High and Tōō Academy, the school of Daiki Aomine and manager Satsuki Momoi. Tōō crushes Seirin 112–55 in the Inter-High championship league, and Seirin wins the rematch in the first round of the Winter Cup, Aomine's first-ever loss.

Lore & Background

Aomine, the former ace of the Generation of Miracles, was Kuroko's light at Teiko before Kagami. Tōō accommodates his habit of skipping practice, and its captain, point guard Shōichi Imayoshi, holds together a team of specialized individuals. Momoi's scouting lets Tōō predict Seirin's players, with the exception of Kuroko. The defeat in the rematch rekindles Aomine's passion for basketball.

Reader's Guide

In the Inter-High game Tōō leads 25–21 after the first quarter without Aomine, who arrives late in the second. He intercepts Kuroko's Ignite Pass, Tōō enters the fourth quarter ahead 82–51, and Seirin loses 112–55; Kagami is benched with a leg injury for the remaining days. In the Winter Cup rematch Seirin scores first with Kuroko's Ignite Pass Kai. Aomine stops the Vanishing Drive and Imayoshi is assigned to mark Kuroko, but Misdirection Overflow pulls Seirin back within single digits, and Tōō leads by 11 after three quarters. In the fourth quarter Aomine enters the Zone, Kagami comes to match him, and Seirin wins a close game. Afterwards Tōō's third-years retire and Wakamatsu becomes captain.
