The Furious Five
Shifu's five students: Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Viper and Mantis.
The Furious Five are Master Shifu's five students at the Jade Palace: Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Viper and Mantis. They pay homage to the real tiger, monkey, crane, snake and praying mantis styles of Chinese martial arts. Angelina Jolie voices Tigress, their leader, in the films.
Lore & Background
In Kung Fu Panda (2008) Shifu holds a tournament to name one of the Five as the Dragon Warrior, but Oogway picks Po instead, and the Five at first dismiss and mock him. When Tai Lung escapes, they set out to stop him themselves and are beaten by his nerve-strike technique. In Kung Fu Panda 2 they travel with Po to Gongmen City to stop Lord Shen, and in Kung Fu Panda 3 Kai steals the chi of every member except Tigress. The double-disc DVD of the first film includes the short Secrets of the Furious Five.
