Lore & Background

Before Kingsman, Eggsy had dropped out of training for the Royal Marines and lived with his mother and an abusive stepfather, Dean. As a boy he was given a medal engraved with an emergency number by Harry Hart, who felt responsible for his father's death. Seventeen years later he is arrested for stealing a car, calls the number, and Hart arranges his release. Hart puts him forward to replace the dead agent Lancelot; he trains under Merlin and befriends fellow recruit Roxy. He fails the last test by refusing to shoot the puppy he had raised, and Roxy becomes Lancelot. After Valentine shoots Hart, Eggsy leads Arthur to poison himself, enters Valentine's bunker posing as Arthur, and kills Gazelle and then Valentine. A year later he has officially joined Kingsman as Galahad and is in a relationship with Tilde, Crown Princess of Sweden, whom he marries at the end of The Golden Circle.
