The song is based on the concept of "farewell peculiar to youth." Kitani received an offer from the anime production side for "a song with a refreshing impression based on the theme of youth," which he said was difficult to produce. The school chime (Westminster Quarters) phrase is used in part of the song. Kitani was able to quickly create a first seed for the track, but the arrangement went through multiple versions: an initial slower, sadder club beat with guitar, and a faster guitar rock version. The director chose a middle ground, and the final product differs from both early versions. Eve's "Kaikai Kitan" was a major inspiration, and Kitani also drew on his own song "Scar" from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War when writing the chorus.
