Background

In the world of Hunter × Hunter, Hunters are licensed professionals specializing in fantastical pursuits such as locating rare animal species, treasure hunting, surveying unexplored enclaves, or hunting down lawless individuals. To become one, an applicant must pass the annual Hunter Examination run by the Hunter Association, a trial so difficult that fewer than one in every hundred-thousand candidates succeeds. Licensed Hunters can access locations that ordinary people cannot. A Hunter may earn up to three stars based on their achievements: a single star for remarkable work in a specific field, two stars for holding an official position and mentoring others, and three stars for excellence across multiple fields. This system ensures that only those with proven skill and endurance are recognized as elite members of humanity.
