Lore & Background

A year after becoming chieftain, Hiccup's Berk is overcrowded with rescued dragons and under constant attack by hunters. Grimmel, who boasts of having killed nearly every Night Fury, uses a captive Light Fury as bait for Toothless; after his Deathgrippers destroy Berk, the villagers settle a new island, New Berk. Toothless follows the Light Fury to the Hidden World and becomes its alpha, while Grimmel captures both dragons and uses Toothless to seize Berk's dragons. In the final fight Hiccup slips free of his prosthetic leg, which Grimmel is holding, and Grimmel falls to his death. Realising that dragons are not safe among humans, the Berkians release them to the Hidden World; Hiccup and Astrid marry and become chieftains, and a decade later they visit Toothless, the Light Fury and their three Night Lights with their own children.
