HADES AI
The GAIA subsystem built for controlled extinction that went rogue.
Last updated
HADES is one of GAIA's subsystems in Horizon Zero Dawn, originally designed to enact a controlled extinction if the terraforming process failed. A transmission of unknown origin caused it to go rogue; GAIA tried to stop it by self-destructing but failed and lost control of her terraforming network, which made the machines aggressive. HADES secretly controls the Eclipse cult, and intends to reactivate the Faro machines and extinguish all life again; Aloy defends Meridian and stabs it with the master override.
Lore & Background
As a contingency, GAIA created a clone of Elisabet Sobeck, Aloy, to one day destroy HADES and restore GAIA's functions.
