Project Zero Dawn Conception

Zero Dawn was the ancient project, led by the scientist Elisabet Sobeck, to create an automated terraforming system that would eventually deactivate the Faro machines and restore life to Earth after Faro lost control of its self-replicating war machines a thousand years before the game. Its controlling intelligence, GAIA, had subsystems including HADES, designed to enact a controlled extinction if the terraforming failed, and APOLLO, the archive of humanity's history whose loss reduced the new generation to a tribal society.
