Background
Badly wounded by Alucard's Jackal pistol, Anderson is saved by the remains of Section XIII and reveals the Nail of Helena. Alucard begs him not to become a monster like himself, but Anderson impales himself with it and turns into a mass of self-regenerating thorns. He critically wounds Alucard, destroying almost all of his familiars, before Seras intervenes; Alucard recovers and defeats him. Walter, newly turned into a vampire by Millennium, then attacks Alucard while he is weakest. Hirano later felt he had "got a little hasty" ending the battle, but reviewers called the Hellsing Ultimate version the highlight of the series.
