Marvolo Gaunt's Ring

Marvolo Gaunt's Ring was an heirloom of the House of Gaunt, the descendants of Salazar Slytherin and Cadmus Peverell: a gold ring set with a black stone engraved with what Marvolo Gaunt called the "Peverell coat of arms". It passed down the male Gaunt line until Tom Riddle stole it from Morfin Gaunt and framed Morfin for the murders of the Riddle family. Neither of them knew that the stone was the Resurrection Stone and the crest the symbol of the Deathly Hallows. Riddle made the ring his second Horcrux and cursed it. In 1996 Albus Dumbledore found it and destroyed it with the Sword of Gryffindor, but the stone survived and was placed inside a Golden Snitch.
