It shows the location of every person within the castle as a moving dot labeled with their name. The map is activated by tapping it with a wand and speaking a specific phrase. It is given to Harry by Fred and George Weasley, who had used it for their own mischief. The map is resilient against standard concealment magic, as it shows individuals even when they are invisible or transformed into animals. Its primary limitation is that it does not show the Room of Requirement when it is being used for a specific purpose. The map can be deactivated by speaking a counter-phrase, returning it to a blank state.

Reader's Guide

To activate the parchment, tap it with your wand and declare, "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good." The blank paper will fill with ink, displaying the castle's current state. You can trace specific footprints or locate friends by name among the moving dots. When finished, speak "Mischief Managed" to return the document to its blank state. Note: It does not show the Room of Requirement when it is being used for a specific purpose.
