Apparition

Disappearing from one place and appearing in another.

Apparition, or Apparating, is the magic of vanishing from one place and appearing almost instantly in another. Wizards must pass an Apparition test, compared to a Muggle driving test, and there are many examples of failed attempts; a bad one can cause splinching, in which part of the wizard is left behind. Spells can also block it, such as the Anti-Disapparition Jinx Dumbledore uses to stop Death Eaters from escaping.
