Wizengamot

The high court of the wizarding world.

The Wizengamot is the wizarding high court of law; its name joins "wizard" and "Witenagemot", the council that advised Anglo-Saxon kings. In Order of the Phoenix Harry is tried before the full Wizengamot and cleared of all charges thanks to Dumbledore. In the same book Dumbledore is removed as the court's Chief Warlock.
