It reveals that Grunkle Stan is really Stanley Pines, who had taken the name of his lost twin brother, Stanford.

Lore & Background
As boys the twins were close, and Stanley defended Stanford from bullies who mocked his extra fingers. In high school Stanley accidentally wrecked the perpetual motion machine that would have got Stanford into a top college; Stanford accused him of doing it on purpose, and their father threw Stanley out.
