Mabel falls for a merman stuck in the town pool.
"The Deep End" is the fifteenth episode of the first season of Gravity Falls, first shown on Disney Channel on March 15, 2013. On the hottest day of the summer the Gravity Falls Pool opens, Mabel befriends a merman trapped in its deep end, and Dipper takes a job as assistant lifeguard to spend time with Wendy.

Background
Dipper has to win over the volatile pool manager, Mr. Poolcheck. Mabel's mysterious crush, Mermando, turns out to be a merman who cannot get back to his family in the ocean. Dipper helps her free him, and Mabel gives him the pool's megaphone to call his family, even though Dipper will lose his job for it; Mermando kisses her goodbye. Poolcheck fires Dipper, but Wendy has been fired too, and the two go off together, while Mabel later receives messages in bottles from Mermando.
