Lore & Background
The game's plot follows James Bond and fellow 00-agent Alec Trevelyan infiltrating a chemical weapons facility in 1986. Trevelyan is shot by General Arkady Ourumov, but Bond escapes. In later years, Bond investigates a satellite control station, a missile test, and the Janus crime syndicate, eventually discovering that Trevelyan faked his death and leads Janus. The story involves the GoldenEye satellite, an electromagnetic pulse weapon.
In Their Own Story
The countdown is relentless. Bond bursts into the control room, gun still hot from the firefight outside. A woman in a lab coat, Christmas Jones, is already at the console, fingers flying over the keys. 'The override is here,' she says, not looking up. 'But I need you to hold off the guards while I reroute the power.' Bond nods, taking position at the door. The alarms scream. The timer ticks down. Christmas works, her voice calm amid the chaos. 'Almost... there.' The satellite dish groans, and the GoldenEye weapon powers down. She finally looks at Bond, a faint smile. 'That was close.'
