James Bond is a fictional British Secret Service agent whom writer Ian Fleming created in 1953 and featured in twelve novels and two short-story collections. After Fleming died in 1964, nine more writers produced authorised Bond novels or novelisations, among them Kingsley Amis, John Gardner, Sebastian Faulks, Anthony Horowitz and Charlie Higson.

Known by his code number 007, Bond has been carried over into television, radio, comic strips, video games and film. The Eon Productions film series began with Dr. No in 1962, starring Sean Connery, and the films together have earned more than US$7.04 billion, the fifth-highest total for any film series; Daniel Craig's fifth and last outing, No Time to Die (2021), is the most recent. Fleming took the name from an American ornithologist, James Bond, whose field guide Birds of the West Indies he owned as a keen birdwatcher.
