Premise
Nick and Perry are two alien dogs from the planet Dogmas who crash-land on Earth. To avoid being sold to science, they must disguise themselves as ordinary dogs. Perry studies Earth culture and is fascinated by how things work, while Nick remains optimistic and enjoys the pleasures of Earth life, especially television and his love interest, Sofia. Nick is a tall, orange dog with a proud stature, lazy and vegetarian, and not as intelligent as Perry, though the two cooperate effectively. Perry is a small, blue dog resembling a beagle, highly intelligent and skilled at building complex devices from everyday human objects. Nick's easygoing nature often disrupts Perry's plans to return home, but their friendship endures. Lucy, a bright and adventurous only child, discovers the dogs after a UFO crashes in her garden and believes they are a birthday gift from her father, Frank. Frank, a history professor and single father, cannot bring himself to disappoint Lucy and keeps the dogs. Their neighbor Mr. Smith, a spiteful part-time UFO hunter, tries to catch Nick and Perry acting unlike normal dogs to sell them to science.
