Synopsis
Each episode begins with Victor off-screen summarizing what his family members will teach him. The episode is divided into five segments; in each, Victor asks a family member a popular scientific question, and that member, who has expertise in the relevant field, gives an extensive answer. Each segment has its own short intro and The End sketches for the specific characters, and each sketch is titled. Before the end credits, Max asks Victor what he learned; Victor begins with "Tons of neat stuff," summarizing the lessons. Max replies, "Sounds like a real big day," and Victor concludes, "It was, but I still have plenty of questions left for next time."
Characters
Victor, a baby and the main protagonist, has blonde hair and usually wears only a light blue diaper; he asks questions to learn from his family. Max, Victor's father, is a stereotypical mechanic and handyman who specializes in technology and electronics; he is rarely seen without his cap. Vanilla, Victor's mother, handles botany and zoology, and is often accompanied by the arguing birds Kwik and Kwak. Eartha, Victor's grandmother, covers geography, geology, and meteorology, and owns Basalt, a green dinosaur with orange spots that can transform into any mode of transport and time travel. Micro and Scopo, Victor's uncles, are running gags who explain biology of the human body; Micro is stubby and wears a white cowboy hat, while Scopo is larger and dumber, often serving as a test subject. Matik, Victor's grandfather, teaches astronomy and the universe, has 'dog ears,' and is rarely seen without his pilot hat; his dog Zygo has webbed limbs and sounds like Daffy Duck.
Release
The exact airdates of the 26 episodes are unknown; some credits show a 1996 copyright and others a 1997 copyright. In the United States, the series aired on the syndicated "The Saban Network for Kids!" (later "Saban Kids Network"), which included more action-oriented programmes such as Eagle Riders, Samurai Pizza Cats, season 1 of Dragon Ball Z, and season 2 of Masked Rider. The series marked Saban's first entry into the educational television market, airing per FCC guidelines. It was cancelled due to low ratings. Ownership passed to Disney in 2001 when Disney acquired Fox Kids Worldwide, including Saban Entertainment. In the 2000s, it ran on Disney's Jetix block. The only major English-language DVD release is by Czech distributor North Video, featuring both Czech and English audio and original video in production order; all 26 episodes were released on 8 volumes from September 2 to October 21, 2010.
