Premise

In New York City, three middle school students form a superhero team called the Ghostforce. They defend the city from ghosts that are invisible to people. These ghosts feed on fear, which makes them stronger and lets them influence the world. Each ghost has a normal form and a boosted form, achieved by fusing with certain objects. After a ghost is beaten, the team traps it in a Technoghost container, which reverses all the damage it caused.

Characters

Andrew 'Andy' Baker, voiced by Enzo Ratsito in French and Jordan Quisno in English, is one of the main protagonists. He is a student in Professor Pascal's class at a NYC school in Manhattan, New York, and the oldest of the trio, suggesting he was held back a year. An aspiring basketball player, he is often a lazy underachiever for study. Using his Ectocap, Andy transforms into Fury the Leader, gaining slime-based powers. Dragoyle, a dragon/gargoyle-like ghost, resides in Fury's Boo Cap. Michael 'Mike' Collins Jr., voiced by Hervé Grull in French and Ogie Banks in English, is the youngest student in the class due to skipping a grade and has a large interest in science. He transforms into Krush the Defender, gaining ice creation powers. Growmax, an ice cube-shaped ghost, resides in Krush's Boo Cap. Olivia 'Liv' Baker, voiced by Laure Filiu in French and Cassandra Lee Morris in English, is Andy's younger sister by one year and is interested in paranormal study. She transforms into Myst the Tactician, gaining portal creation powers. Octocat, an octopus/cat-like ghost, resides in Myst's Boo Cap. Glowboo, voiced by Emmanuel Garijo in French and Cedric Williams in English, is the android member of Ghostforce, debuting in the episode 'Raijin'. Miss Jones, voiced by Marie Diot in French and Tara Sands in English, is a science teacher at the NYC school and the half-ghost mentor of the Ghostforce, as well as the creator of Glowboo. Glups is Miss Jones' pet ghost.

Production

Jeremy Zag first came up with the idea for Ghostforce in 2011, drawing inspiration from franchises like Ghostbusters. A pre-visual bible for the show was put together in 2012. The series was initially planned as a mix of CGI and live-action, but after Zagtoon struck a three-year distribution deal with PGS Entertainment, it shifted to full CGI animation. Man of Action, who also worked on the sister series Zak Storm, contributed to the show’s development. An early animation reel from 2014 showed Andy transforming into a blue Ghostforce member while a demo of the theme song played; this reel was presented at the 2014 MIPCOM trade show in Cannes, France. TF1 bought Ghostforce in 2016, and Disney later secured international distribution rights. SAMG Animation handled the first season’s animation. The second season is undergoing a visual revival, similar to what was done for Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir, and is set to debut in December 2026 on Netflix in select international markets, with TF1 and Super RTL as secondary broadcasters. It is strongly suggested that Disney is no longer involved due to low audience reception.
