Cleonid Dynasty
A lineage of emperors that held a galaxy together—until time and decay took their toll.
The Cleonic dynasty is the "genetic dynasty" of clones of Emperor Cleon I that rules the Galactic Empire in the Foundation television series; cloning does not factor in Asimov's novels.
Lore & Background
Despite its long reign, the Dynasty's stability was undermined by internal decay and external pressures.
Reader's Guide
This system played a central role in the Foundation saga by creating an illusion of stability while masking deep internal rot. As the Empire faced external threats from warlords and the rising power of the Mule, the rigidity of the Cleonid system proved unable to adapt. The Dynasty's eventual collapse was a pivotal moment that validated Hari Seldon's psychohistorical predictions, proving that even a perfect ruler could not stop the inevitable fall of a civilization.
