French football clubs in international competitions
French clubs have won European and global trophies since 1955.
French clubs have participated in European competitions since the 1955–56 season, when Reims entered the inaugural European Cup. Marseille became the first French winner of the UEFA Champions League in 1993, though the victory was overshadowed by a bribery scandal. Paris Saint-Germain is the only other French club to win a major European trophy, having secured the Cup Winners' Cup in 1996, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Super Cup in 2025 and 2026, and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2025. Clubs from overseas France have also competed in Oceania and Caribbean continental cups, with Hienghène Sport from New Caledonia winning the 2019 OFC Champions League and becoming the first French club to play in the FIFA Club World Cup.
