Lore & Background

Each God of Destruction is attended by an Angel who guides and supervises them: Whis serves Beerus and his sister Vados serves Champa. Toriyama's mistaken belief that "Beerus" came from "beer" led to Gods of Destruction and their attendants being named after alcoholic drinks.

Reader's Guide

Whis says Beerus can destroy entire universes. Above the Gods of Destruction stands Zeno, who can erase universes himself.

Beerus first appears in Battle of Gods looking for the Super Saiyan God. Champa later challenges Beerus's universe in the Tournament of Destroyers. In the Tournament of Power, Toppo of Universe 11 gains the power of a God of Destruction. Vegeta later trains under Beerus to learn Hakai, the gods' destructive power.
