Martinaise
The poor coastal district of Revachol where the game unfolds.
Martinaise is the small, impoverished district of Revachol where Disco Elysium takes place, lying north of the 8/81 raised motorway and Jamrock. It is neglected by both RCM policing and Coalition investment, and its buildings span many eras, the oldest being a Dolorian church from settlers who arrived some 320 years earlier.
Background
Under the Suzerainty it was a separate province that the Wild Pines Group and FELD built up as a workers' resort and research centre. During the revolution it became a centre of communard activity, with networks of underground bunkers and a royal watchtower in the Martinaise Inlet refitted as an anti-aircraft Sea Fortress. In the game it is the scene of the dockworkers' strike against Wild Pines and of the hanged man murder.
